After Poutine, This New Cucumber-Flavored Mineral Water Has Great Potential

When poutine first started in Quebec, it was ridiculed across the board. Today it is deemed the national Canadian dish.

A new food dish or product can be rejected before becoming overwhelmingly adopted.

Considering the vast diversity, quality and uniqueness of Quebec’s homegrown food products, a new star could emerge anytime.

With the summer season about to begin, now is the right time to have fun discovering them.

As an example, we recently came across a sample tasting of a new mineral water … with cucumber and herbs flavour!

Yes, that’s right: cucumber flavour! And it’s very good!

The mineral water is marketed by Saint-Eustache based Fineau (meaning fine water in French).

Tapped from the Saint-Justin spring in Maskinongé county, it is a natural mineral water to which, of course, carbon dioxide has been added, with natural flavors of cucumber, lemon, coriander and thyme.

As of now, the product is already offered in more than 200 points of sale, namely specialized grocery stores, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and hotels.

We only saw one convenience store on the list, the Voisin Extra convenience store in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. Congratulations to him!

We would expect to find many more than that.

If you would like to taste this surprising water, the company offers sample tastings all summer in its points of sale. You can find the sample schedule by clicking here.

Finally, you may want to try this delicious recipe of “mocktail” (a cocktail without alcohol) with water Fineau called Le Finfineau (meaning : a smart person).

  • 6 thin slices of cucumber
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 2 grapefruit zests
  • 1 large grapefruit district
  • Cucumber & Herbs

Mix all ingredients except water with a few ice cubes. Pour into a glass and add Fineau.

And voilà! Right after your poutine, it’s fantastic. Cheers!
