Axep

Founded in 1983 and operated today by Loblaw, Axep is a small independent grocery store banner, located mainly in small towns and villages of Quebec remote regions.

In addition to offering grocery products of all kinds, abundant fruits and vegetables, premium fresh meats, deli meats and bakery, many of the Axep markets have a great variety of prepared meals on site as well as a selection of beers, including local microbreweries.

Type of Franchise

Owners signing up with the Axep banner commit to purchasing part or all of their inventory from Loblaw warehouses. Some retailers, located in remote and even devitalized areas, negotiated and obtained exception clauses enabling them to source directly from local producers to buy meat or vegetables in order to reduce costs and contribute to local economy (source: Hebdo Le Lac-St-Jean (Alma, QC), Vol. 73 No: 47).
