The Rachelle-Béry banner was launched in Montreal in 1984. The first branch opened at the corner of Rachel and Berri streets, which inspired its name. At the time, it was quite visionary to open a grocery store specialized in natural products and promoting healthy eating. In 2005 however, it was becoming so trendy that Sobeys decided to acquire the banner’s seven existing stores (source: TVA) and brand recipe to integrate it into its own network of supermarkets. There are now 12 Rachelle-Béry grocery stores and 20 additional boutique storeslocated within IGA Extra supermarkets across Quebec. After more than 30 years of existence, Rachelle-Béry pursues the same mission: to offer only organic and natural products.
The banner that positions itself as a “healthy grocery store” is also a place where one could make a complete daily grocery. It features fresh and organic fruits and vegetables, certified organic prepared meals, natural and organic groceries, biodegradable cleaning and maintenance products as well as teas and herbal teas.
In addition, in every Rachelle-Béry store, there is a boutique section where wellness flourishes from all natural forms:
- Cosmetics and natural body care products;
- Vitamins and supplements;
- Teas and herbal teas;
- Aromatherapy, homeopathy and herbalism and more.
- Corporate stores and boutiques
Sobeys owns the banner and stores and operates them in the corporate mode.
