Essence +

Canadian Tire’s Essence + gasoline brand is sold at more than 40 service stations in Quebec, the vast majority being Canadian Tire gas stations near a store of the same name. Some, however, are isolated and others, just a few, are associated with another convenience store banner (indeed, we saw a Beau-soir store selling Essence + near Joliette).

According to Canadian Tire, Essence + meets or exceeds all government standards and acts against fouling and corrosion (source: Canadian Tire).

Canadian Tire Petroleum is the largest independent retailer of gasoline in Canada. It operates more than 300 gas stations and sells more than 1.7 billion liters of gasoline a year. An average Canadian Tire gas station sells 17,000 liters per day, twice as much gasoline as the industry average.

Type of Franchising

An interested retailer must provide a letter of credit emitted by a bank that will be used as collateral for gasoline inventory. The amount can vary between $ 10,000 and $ 50,000. He must also purchase goods other than gasoline. The amount of purchases varies depending on the size of the gas station, but is usually between $ 30,000 to $ 70,000.

Retailers’ remuneration consists of fixed income and variable income. The retailer receives a fixed administration fee on gasoline sales, as well as allowances to help cover the operating costs. He also receives a variable profit on the sale of non-gasoline merchandise, including everyday consumer goods, car wash packages and propane.

Contracts are for a one-year term and a successful retailer can be offered the opportunity to manage multiple service stations (source: Canadian Tire).
