Once a garage brand, Crevier is fast becoming a stellar retail name

We couldn’t find a more striking time lapse photo sequence to capture the deep transformation that proximity retailing has been through over the past decades in Quebec.

And this is not just about Crevier: it’s about the Quebec industry as a whole.

So let’s go over these and fully enjoy the show, shall we.

2009 : Michel Gabriel’s garage on Sainte-Rose blvd in Laval — A standard garage like there were thousands in Quebec, offering gasoline with service along with a car maintenance bay.

2014: RIP Michel Gabriel’s garage — The days of independent auto centers are over: car dealerships have captured the lion’s share of the after sale market, not to mention big chains like Costco and Canadian Tire. The business model is in decline, and the above garage is consequently closed down due to lack of revenue and competitiveness.

2015: Vacant lot — The building, the land, the infrastructure, everything has been erased from existence to make room for something new.

2016: Éthier Market under construction — Automotive services make way for proximity retailing: tobacco, beer, lottery, gas and ready-to-eat categories are now front and center in a new attractive and eye-catching setting.

2017: Éthier Market Beau-Soir Crevier — Crevier is back within a branded store that naturally fits with its surrounding neighborhood. The store becomes a magnet for families and commuting workers. All elements are combined to maximize the return on investments. Fully transformed, it is now all set for a bright future.

Isn’t this fascinating to observe, such progress in action? And the big winner of these major transformations, you guessed it, is the consumer!
