Min. Wage Increased to $15.25 on May 1st
On May 1, 2023, the minimum wage will increase from $14.25 to $15.25 per hour, an increase of $1.00 or 7%.
The minimum hourly earnings of workers therefore continue to rise a bit faster than inflation which is Canada, was 6.8% in 2022.
For a convenience store owner who hires an average of 1.5 worker at any time of the year, this represents an increase of about $10,000 in wages.
Since 2010, the minimum wage has increased by almost 60% while inflation, by 10% hardly.
